I was pleased to participate as a trainee in the 2013 / 2014 season of the CARFAC SASK. Mentorship Program.
In 2012,13 & 14 I was pleased to received a guest artist's residency at Cypress Hills, SK. Special thanks to Cypress Hills Provincial Park, The Creative Partnerships Grant Program and The Arts in the Parks Pilot Project made possible through the support of the Sask.Arts Board and Sask. Lotteries.
I have been an approved Grumbacher Acrylics instructor from Sept. 2010 - Aug. 2015.
In 2015 I was invited by the Art Gallery of Regina to give an art workshop. I will once again be instructing there in 2016.

Painting Cypress Hills, SK in the Tradition of the

This is my 3rd plein air excursion to paint the Cypress Hills and surrounding area. I have led excursions to exotic locals but I have always dreamed of hosting some of my international artist friends here. You are very positive and helpful as an instructor without being pushy or rigid in your ability to allow the student to decide what they want for a final product. ``I had never taken an art class in my life when I spoke with Nikki about signing up for three art classes she was teaching - watercolor class, acrylic landscape class and an acrylic portrait class. She said the classes were for all ages and all levels of painters, even a beginner. Well, I signed up for all three. Not knowing anything about painting, I was looking forward to the classes figuring anything would be an improvement as far as my art skills went.
Nikki has a very unique method of instructing that made beginners and experienced painters feel very comfortable in her class as she shared her vast knowledge of art with us. Her patience is truly an admirable quality. The classes were absolutely great and I thoroughly enjoyed all three. The information I gained over the weekend has certainly made a difference in the way I look at the landscape when I am travelling down the road. I look at the sky, trees, roads, sunsets, etc. and find myself thinking about the colors I would need to paint first, colors I would need to mix to get the right shades, what scenes would make a great photo that I could paint, etc. I just want to say "Thank you Nikki, for giving me a whole new colorful world to explore and paint."
Art Classes at the Argyle Park Community Centre
~ Wednesdays; 4 - 6 pm
Reg. $35. + taxes CAD / 2 hour class. This class is for any level of artist ages 8 to adult who would like to explore their creative side. Bring any subject matter and your pencils, watercolours, acrylics, pastels or water soluble pencils and I will guide you in your chosen project. (Portraits not included.)
